Not-so-Instant Gratification

Sometimes I like having to wait for stuff. For instance, I’m currently downloading some torrent files. They’re downloading at a pretty slow rate, but it makes what I’m waiting for seem worth it. Maybe that’s a little backwards psychology going on, but waiting a while for the unknown is pretty exciting.  It also may relate to my being super-sentimental and waiting reminds me of days gone by when I had to wait until Christmas or my birthday for that number one gift from my infinite wishlist.

I think autumn makes me sentimental as well. There’s something about the way the sun shines on the trees and the smell of the world. Or some such poetic observation.

monday mornings are best for sleeping

I have to say that this part-time job I have is pretty great. This morning I went in at 9 o’clock and I’m already finished for the day. It’s kind of a bummer though when I think about how I could’ve been sleeping in. Then again, I only work Monday/Wednesday/Friday, so I can’t complain too much. Suggestion of the Day: Watch Flight of the Conchords.

staying behind the times

i’ve decided it just isn’t worth it attempting to stay hip with all the latest technologies. just when i think it’s a good idea to get a relatively new piece of hi-tech gadgetry something new comes along to show it up. for instance, i get a Nintendo DS for christmas two years ago; what happens a few months later? the DS Lite makes its way to shelves in all its Lite-ness. it happened before that too. i remember being so excited about my iPod mini. heck, the Apple website doesn’t even bother putting it on its list of products. so i thought, maybe i’ll just go ahead and get one of the super-duper 8gb ones with video capability. then today i see an advertisement for the iPod touch… i just can’t win.
